Doula Terms and Conditions

Your Amazing Birth is an independent business owner certified through Birth Boot Camp, Inc., and is not an employee of the Company.
Your Amazing Birth is not a medical care provider and does not give any advice that is medical in nature. Your Amazing Birth encourages all clients and potential clients to understand the role that a Childbirth Educator and Doula play in your birth experience, and highly values the opinion and expertise of specialized medical care providers when applicable.

Certified Birth Boot Camp Doulas support families in pregnancy, birth and early postpartum through physical, emotional, and informational support. The goal is to help you have an amazing birth. Birth Boot Camp Doulas abide by the Code of Conduct and Scope of Practice.

  • Maintain a network of community resources.

  • Remain up to date on birth-related research and issues.

  • Provide 1-2 visits to discuss your birth plan.

  • Communicate with you throughout the pregnancy.

  • Encourage communication between you and your care provider.

  • Be on call 24/7 from 38 weeks of your pregnancy on.

  • Provide early labor support via phone.

  • Provide continuous labor support, with the exception of breaks for personal needs.

  • Provide a backup doula in the event that I am not able to attend your birth due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • Strive to maintain a calm and peaceful birth environment.

  • Provide support during the immediate postpartum period before departure.

  • Should a cesarean birth become necessary, the doula will provide support as determined by the care provider's policies.

  • If requested by the client, the doula will provide a postpartum visit to review the birth and provide resources as requested.

  • Perform clinical tasks including vaginal exams, or assessment of maternal or fetal well-being.

  • Make decisions for the client.

  • The doula will gather the information necessary to help the client make an informed decision.

  • Speak to staff on the client's behalf.

  • Deliver babies. If a baby arrives unexpectedly in the doula's presence without a care provider, the parents will be responsible for the delivery of the baby. Neither Your Amazing Birth nor Birth Boot Camp, Inc. will be held liable for not providing health care.

In order to prepare for birth and get the most out of your Doula experience, please consider the following:

  • Completing a childbirth education and breastfeeding course. (Birth Boot Camp is recommended.)

  • Touring your birth facility.

  • Staying in touch during late pregnancy and early labor so the doula can best determine the appropriate time to join the client.

  • Disclosing any communicable illnesses.

A non-refundable payment of $300 is due upon the signing of this agreement. This fee will reserve the estimated due date on the doula's calendar. The remaining balance will be due by the start of the 38th week of pregnancy before the on-call period begins. The on-call period will not begin until services have been paid for in full.

If circumstances are such that the doula cannot attend the birth, the doula will provide a qualified backup and will be responsible for payment of the backup services. The backup will provide the same services outlined in this agreement, and the client's fees will remain the same. In the event of extraordinary circumstance, the doula may request a backup for relief, at Your Amazing Birth's discretion.

All fees are non-refundable. In the event that the client fails to call to report labor has begun, or attendance of the birth is prohibited by the provider's policies, all fees are forfeited. In the case of a rapid birth, it may be impossible for the doula to provide these services. Fees are not adjusted for length of labor or outcomes.

The birth will not be attended if fees are not PAID IN FULL as directed above.
